The BoM says the fronts will impact Western Australia from Monday and are then expected to move east impacting South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales throughout the week.
Severe weather warnings for damaging winds and damaging surf conditions have been issued for WA. Warnings for damaging winds will likely be issued for other states later this week.
The BoM said the forecast could bring a prolonged period of strong to damaging winds.
Rain is not expected to have flooding potential in WA and SA at this stage, but a flood watch may be issued for parts of north-east Victoria, northern Tasmania and south-east NSW for potential flooding later this week.
Rain could melt some snow at the Alpine ski resorts, potentially leading to increased river rises.
The second system is likely to prolong these conditions through to Friday.
