WHAT IS MAKING NEWS:

* A car in Scott Morrison's security detail crashed on the way to an event in Tasmania on Thursday afternoon. Four police officers were taken to hospital and the driver of the other car wasn't injured. The prime minister wasn't involved.

* The former staff member of Alan Tudge who accused the minister of abuse - which he denies - during a consensual affair has released the government from its confidentiality requirements after details of a negotiated $500,000 settlement were leaked. Senior government ministers have refused to comment on the proposed payment citing confidentiality reasons.

* The unemployment rate has stayed at four per cent.

* Prime Minister Scott Morrison has denied breaking his promise to establish an integrity commission from the 2019 election, despite not introducing legislation during the three year term.

* Labor leader Anthony Albanese was forced to clarity the opposition's border policy, saying he does support both boat turnbacks and offshore processing after saying "you don't need offshore detention" if turnbacks are done right.
