WHERE THE LEADERS CAMPAIGNED
* Prime Minister Scott Morrison: Northern Tasmania (Bass and Braddon)
* Labor leader Anthony Albanese: Regional NSW (Hunter)
WHAT THE COALITION WANTED TO TALK ABOUT
* Labor leader Anthony Albanese doesn't know what he supports and what he doesn't, after the opposition leader was forced to clarify Labor's support for offshore asylum seeker processing.
WHAT LABOR WANTED TO TALK ABOUT
* Labor will fix the healthcare system and establish an integrity commission.
WHAT MADE NEWS:
* A security car in the prime minister's detail crashed and rolled off an embankment in Tasmania. Four officers were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and the driver of the other vehicle wasn't injured. The prime minister wasn't involved in the crash.
* The woman who accused Alan Tudge of abusing her - which he denies - released the Commonwealth from its confidentiality clause after ministers said they wouldn't comment on a reported $500,000 payout to the former staffer despite no evidence of wrongdoing due to confidentiality reasons.
* The unemployment rate remains at four per cent.
* Mr Morrison was pushed by reporters on why he hasn't fulfilled his 2019 election promise to introduce an integrity commission. Mr Morrison denied breaking his promise, saying the government had released its detailed policy but didn't introduce it to parliament because Labor wouldn't support it.
*Mr Albanese has reiterated his support for boat turnbacks and offshore processing after opaque comments at a morning press conference about there being no need for offshore processing if turnbacks are successful.
* Australia has slapped sanctions on another 14 Russian state-owned businesses.
THEY SAID WHAT?
"The pancake mix got into your skin and people knew you had been there (Pancakes On The Rocks)"
- Mr Albanese on his former part-time job in Sydney.
"What Anthony Albanese will believe on Saturday is an open proposition because he has stood for everything he's opposed and he's opposed everything he's stood for."
- Mr Morrison responding to Mr Albanese's boat turnback comment.
TWEETED:
"Lying about a lie. That takes some doing."
- Labor senator Murray Watt on Mr Morrison saying he didn't break his promise to establish a federal anti-corruption commission.
