Merrivale siblings Flynn and Lila Wilkinson score back-to-back centuries

But nothing could split the cricketing brother and sister this week, after they both made striking centuries for their respective representative teams within a day of the other.

On Tuesday, Lila, 15, celebrated her maiden century in the opening game of the under 15 Female Youth Premier League carnival.

In doing so she led her Western Waves teammates to victory against the Suns.

Then less than 24 hours later, older brother Flynn, 17, did the exact same thing to help Warrnambool Gold seal an under 17 country week grand final berth.

In an eerie coincidence, both finished their innings on 103.

It comes after another Merrivale cricketer, Ryan Barnes made exactly 103 on Monday in the opening day of under 17 country week.

"It was pretty funny that we made the exact same score," Lila said. "And Ryan as well."

Now, Flynn will face off against Ryan's Warrnambool Blue team in an all-Warrnambool under 17 country week grand final.

Flynn said he was stoked to get through to the final game of the week.

"I couldn't play the first game, but we (Gold) all gelled really well as a team," he said.

"It's like we've played 50 games together before."

According to Flynn, it was a strong fielding effort that was the key to Gold's win against Wimmera Mallee.

"We pride ourselves on being one of the best fielding teams. If we do that, the rest often looks after itself," Flynn said.

Opening the batting in the past four games, Flynn has made scores of 78*, 69*, 33 and 103.

"I sort of got myself in, tried to face 20 balls and if I did that, it doesn't matter what I was on," he said.

Flynn said it felt nice to get his maiden century, with Lila also excited to score her first triple digit score.

"It was pretty hard, there was some pretty good bowlers so I just waited for that bad ball to come," she said. "I was just patient."

In the second semi final of country week, Warrnambool Blue played its way into the grand final, beating Horsham by 52 runs.

Winning the toss and batting first at Uebergang Oval, Blue made it to 179 in part due to a strong late-order showing from Jesse Mahony-Gilchrist (47 from 46 balls).

Heading to the field, a tight bowling attack led Blue to dismiss Horsham for 127, despite Joey Nagorcka's last minute effort to get the latter over the line, not out on 26.

West Warrnambool's Joe Douglas finished with Blue's best bowling figures, taking 3-24 from seven overs.

It was an overall stellar day from Douglas, who opened the batting with 23 and took three catches.

Rounding out the remaining games on Thursday, Hamilton beat Portland by three wickets, while Colac won its first game of the week against South West.
