Koroit police are appealing for information in relation to a single-vehicle incident with a large boulder on Warrnambool-Caramut Road between 9.25pm and 9.30pm yesterday.
Preliminary enquiries suggest the boulder had been deliberately placed in the centre of the southbound lane, just before the first 80km sign entering Warrnambool.
Both the driver and occupants have walked away uninjured, but their vehicle was extensively damaged and was towed from the scene.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward or anyone who travelled through the area at about 9:30pm to check their dash cams for any suspicious vehicles or persons in the area.
