"It's just great to work on something and then see it happening on court," she said.
So the experienced mentor is looking forward to the challenge of coaching Terang Mortlake's Hampden league open grade side for the first time.
Kenna, who coached Dennington's top-grade team in the Warrnambool and District league for the past two years, was set to have a break before the Bloods' Jess Davis gave her a call.
"I have had three years at Dennington now it will be nice to go back and get involved in the Hamdpen league again," she said.
"It'll be nice to work with a whole new bunch of girls I haven't been involved with before."
Kenna previously coached North Warrnambool Eagles open side for three years and Camperdown's top-grade outfit for two years.
She led the Eagles to their first ever HFNL premiership in 2013.
Kenna has a strong family connection to the Bloods despite never having played or coached there.
Her father Tony and three brothers Andrew, Darryl and Craig all played footy with the club at some point during their careers.
Many of her cousins have also played there.
On the netball side, her first cousin Joanne Arundell - who was Terang-based - was among of the group that started netball in the Hampden league.
Terang Mortlake is having a netball meet-and-greet at 6pm Wednesday at Terang Recreation Reserve.
Kenna said the group would look to start pre-season at the end of January.
