The Koroit player was picked in the School Sport Victoria under 12 team after impressing at trials.
Indi's mum Jess - a Hampden league best and fairest winner - said it was unsure if and when the Victorian team would play after COVID-19 interruptions this year.
"She had a lot of trials throughout the year and every time it was the next step, we went into lockdown," Jess said.
"It got put off and put off. We then got an email to say they still wanted to have the trials to name a team and that they are hoping to plan something."
Indi was one of 12 players from across the state who made the Victorian team with an additional eight players named as training partners.
The St Patrick's Primary School Koroit student trialled at goal attack, goal defence and centre.
"It is good for her to get out of her comfort zone and try something like that," Jess said.
Indi, 12, is almost taller than her mum.
"In another 12 months she'll probably catch me I think," Jess said.
Indi's cousin Finn O'Sullivan made the SSV under 15 football team this year and played a one-off match in place of the national championships which were cancelled due to border restrictions.
