The Camperdown houses would be located on the corner of the Camperdown-Cobden Road and Fenton Street and are part of the state government's Big Housing Build.
The project is proposed to develop the 26 houses over two stages with the first stage consisting of 13 single-storey properties.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The planning application, proposed by Plan A Project Management, will be exempt from the standard planning application processes and Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal appeals with the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change getting the final say.
Stage one will be made up of 11 two-bedroom houses and two three-bedroom houses. According to the planning application each house will have a single car parking space and two visitor spaces on the two planned sites.
The state government announced in September $28.9 million would be invested in the Corangamite, Glenelg, Surf Coast and Warrnambool local government areas delivering 109 new social housing homes across seven projects.
The projects also include 53 houses in Portland and 31 houses in Warrnambool.
The houses are for those in the most need of housing including people living with mental illness or disability, people escaping family violence, Victoria's first people and individuals experiencing homelessness.
At the time Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney said the projects would stimulate the local economy while providing the stability and security of a home for those in the community that needed it most.
"These projects will create jobs right here in Western Victoria - with construction expected to be underway this year," she said.
Public submissions must be received by Urbis Pty Ltd by November 15.
