Three new COVID-19 cases in south-west overnight

South West Healthcare said the two cases in Moyne Shire and one in Corangamite Shire are all linked and are in two separate households.

The cases are linked to the Colac outbreak and contact tracing is currently underway to determine further close contacts and potential exposure sites.

There have been no new exposure sites listed in the region overnight.

There are now nine total active COVID-19 cases in the region across four municipalities: zero active cases in Warrnambool, five active cases in Moyne across three households and one active case in Corangamite.

The Glenelg cluster remains at three active cases across one household.

The Colac region currently has 15 active positive cases with almost 100 people in the region isolating.

The Australian Lamb Company outbreak is currently stable, said Barwon Health's Professor Eugene Athan.

"There is one household in Colac that has four cases linked to the property. All cases are now isolating, and have been isolating since the first case was identified.

"This household is connected to the Camperdown school exposure site. Affected classes are currently in isolation.

"We ask the community to remain vigilant and to get tested at the earliest sign of COVID-19 symptoms or following attendance at an exposure site.

"It is also important to get vaccinated as soon as possible."

Yesterday there were 53 tests completed at the Camperdown Leura Oval testing clinic, and 99 tests completed at the Warrnambool testing clinic.

The Leura Oval drive through testing clinic at Camperdown is open today from 2pm-5pm.

South West Healthcare will monitor this clinic and update the community regarding testing availability in coming days.

The COVID testing clinic at Merri Street is open 8am - 4pm by appointment only.

Timboon & District Health are also providing drive through testing for the community today on their campus between 9am-4pm.

According to the DHHS, two new cases are in postcode 3268, which encompasses Ayrford, Brucknell, Cooriemungle, Cowleys Creek, Curdie Vale, Curdies River, Heytesbury Lower, Newfield, Nirranda, Nullawarre, Paaratte and Timboon.

The other case is in postcode 3260, which includes Bookaar, Bostocks Creek, Bungador, Camperdown, Carpendeit, Chocolyn, Gnotuk, Kariah, Koallah, Leslie Manor, Pomborneit, South Purrumbete, Stonyford, Tandarook and Weerite.

There were 153 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in regional Victoria overnight.

They include 21 new cases in Greater Geelong, which are all connected to known cases and exposure sites, Victorian COVID-19 response commander Jeroen Weimar said.

With Victorian double vaccination rates on track to hit 70 percent today and 80 per cent within the week, Member for South West Coast Roma Britnell has written to South Australian Premier Steven Marshall urging him to ease border restrictions.

Ms Britnell said as a priority, Portland needed to be reinstated into the cross-border bubble after no further positive cases or exposure sites have been identified in the city.

"It's worth noting the Glenelg Shire has a vaccination rate of above 95 percent single dose and above 70 per cent double dose," Ms Britnell said.

"The impetus from removing Portland from the bubble was wastewater detections and the subsequent cases.

"It has been two weeks since those detections and over a week since the cases were identified, there has been no community transmission and the risk of further cases is minimal.

"As a start, Portland must be immediately reinstated into the border bubble."

Ms Britnell said considering the Victorian community's response to the vaccine uptake and in particular the response in the Glenelg community it was time for border restrictions to ease.

"For too long families have been separated and businesses on both sides of the border have been impacted because of the ongoing closures," she said.

"With Victoria now hitting its vaccine targets and the risk of transmission being significantly reduced, it's time to open the border and let people get on with their lives."
