President of the Koroit Agricultural Society Michael Lane said organisers made the difficult decision to cancel the event due to the operational constraints, challenges and risks in holding major events during the pandemic.
"We understand this will be disappointing to many people and we also understand it is a very difficult time for our sponsors and traders who will have been hit very hard due to the virus," he said.
But Mr Lane said the organisers would look to hold the show in February 2022, depending on the restrictions and circumstances.
"We thank everyone for their support of our shows over many years and we look forward to bringing the show back in 2022 bigger and better," he said.
Port Fairy Agricultural and Horticultural Show Society president Eveline Jackway said the committee would meet on the weekend to make a decision.

She said the uncertainty around restrictions and crowd numbers made it difficult to plan.
"It's very uncertain, we don't know if we'll be allowed to have large gatherings by then or not," she said.
"We would love it to go ahead though."
The Noorat Show is yet to decide whether the popular event will go ahead.
At the time show secretary Amanda Manifold said while the broader event could not proceed, she hoped to still hold a horse-based event.
"Unfortunately we've just had to cancel the celebrations again this year, but we still hope to be able to go with a horse event of some type on the day which doesn't require quite the financial outlay that a show does," she said.
"We'll just try and celebrate our 150th again next year."
