The league has opted to use the public holiday Friday before the the AFL grand final for this year's decider - if state government COVID-19 restrictions permit - after reducing the usual five-team, four-week final series to a top-four, two-week scenario following lockdowns across Victoria.
Friday, September 24 is the date for this year's grand finals which will be played at Port Fairy's Gardens Oval.
Regional Victoria could be released from lockdown this week, according to Premier Dan Andrews.
But it is unknown if community sport will be allowed to resume under the changes.
The Standard asked fans whether or not they would like the grand final to be moved to the public holiday Friday permanantly.
As of 4pm on Monday, 102 of the 162 votes tallied or 62 per cent said they preffered the traditional Saturday timeslot (a week before the AFL decider).
Sixty votes or 37 per cent said they would like a permanant change to the public holiday Friday.
Fans, who missed an entire year of Hampden football and netball in 2020 due to the pandemic, were limited to when they could watch their teams this season.
The usual 18-round competition was reduced to 12 rounds with spectators sidelined some weeks too.
