MAX Dumesny loves returning to Warrnambool, except for one thing. As the temperature nudged 40 degrees yesterday the sprintcar driver cursed the blowflies. He is spending time back home on the family farm at Nullawarre ahead of the Allansford round of the World Series Sprintcars (WSS) Championship tonight."They're nasty," he said about the flies."There are way too many down here. You're outside changing a tyre and they're thick."(But) Warrnambool's a lovely place. It's home and I always like coming back here."Dumesny is second in the WSS points. He admitted the seventh round of the series at Avalon Raceway on Wednesday was disappointing. He was denied making advances on the points tally after failing to progress from the B main."I was in fifth position, then there was a stoppage with seven laps to go," he said."They then declared the race and I didn't have the opportunity to get my position back. I was pretty angry about that." But any frustration was shortlived. The 50-year-old said he had a cool head when it came to racing."I have been around long enough not to let anything faze me too much. You've just got to stay professional and give it your best shot," he said."When you're angry that's when you make mistakes. I'm a pretty calm fella."Now based north-west of Sydney, Dumesny said he would use the WSS as a warm-up for the 2010 Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic later this month. While he was quick to down play his WSS prospects, he believed he had a chance to take out the Classic. "I'll be back for the Classic. We are just as good as anyone else," Dumesny said. "The equipment is all right. We certainly have the ability to do it (win)." "There's still along way to go," he said about the 14 round WSS."But like everything you need a luck."Dumesny is second behind Brooke Tatnell, who is leading by 42 points.
