Premier Daniel Andrews announced today that there would be 830,000 first dose COVID-19 vaccine appointments opened up across the state from 7am on Wednesday.
There will be 450,000 appointments available for the Pfizer vaccine.
Mr Andrews said not everyone in Victoria would be able to book an appointment because there wasn't the supply.
But he encouraged the community to play their part in the race to get 80 per cent of people vaccinated.
"For those who've already got their appointments please honour those appointments," he said.
He said it wasn't for politicians to tell people what vaccine to get.
"It's for your GP," he said.
"The vaccine you can get today is the best vaccine you can get."
He said the AstraZeneca vaccine would still be available to people aged 18 and over, but those aged 16 and 17 would have to get the Pfizer vaccine.
Victoria's COVID-19 response commander Jeroen Weimar said there were 52 new cases of COVID-19 with one in hotel quarantine and 50 community cases.

He said there was 522 active cases in Victoria with 34 people in hospital with nine in intensive care.
Mr Weimar said 23 of those in hospital were aged under 40 including one infant.
Of the 522 cases, 113 are aged 9 or under, 101 are between 10 and 19, and 92 are between 20 and 29.
