The Warriors couldn't repeat their heroics from earlier in the season and lost to South Rovers by 120 points at Walter Oval.
But departing coach Nick Sheehan said there were many positives out of Warrnambool and District league season 2021.
"Obviously there was a big change in personnel over the past 24 months, a lot games played and senior players gone out of the group," he said.
"To get a lot of young blokes in - we played another two debutants today.
"We had maybe 13 or 14 players play their first senior game throughout the year which is a good opportunity.
"I felt they improved all the way through, obviously today was a bit of a backward step for them.
"Hopefully they take it as a good opportunity for them to maybe take that step toward finals.
"They've seen the intensity and work-rate they need to get there."

Kaleb Allen and Ethan Jenkins got their first taste of senior footy on Saturday.
"They battled out pretty hard," Sheehan said.
"Ethan played in the ruck and Kaleb played in the midfield and across half-back so they'll go back to under 18s next week and our under 18s have finished third so they'll play in a qualifying final."
