Footy chances for George Stevens, Fraser Marris and Henry Walsh

Stevens collected 14 touches in the first match of the AFL under 17 championships playing across half-back.

Vic Country was bound for Queensland and was originally scheduled to play Western Australia at Metricon Stadium on Tuesday.

But coronavirus lockdowns and border restrictions forced a postponement.

Stevens, 16, and his Vic Country teammates will now play Vic Metro in Bendigo on Monday. The AFL is still finalising a way to complete the national championships.

Meanwhile, two players with Hampden league connections - Fraser Marris and Henry Walsh - will play as VFL top-up players this weekend.

Marris, 19, will play a second match for Sydney's VFL team after impressing in his debut for the Swans last weekend.

He will line-up for the Swans, who are based in Melbourne due to COVID-19 restrictions, against Frankston on Sunday.

The Swans used Marris, who is an inside midfielder, as a small forward in his debut against GWS Giants last weekend.

Walsh, son of Cobden legend Wayne and brother of Carlton's Sam, will also play VFL, called up to Gold Coast Suns' side to play Box Hill on Saturday.

Walsh, who plays for Geelong league club St Joseph's, will lead the Suns' ruck division.

In the NAB League, top-placed Greater Western Victoria Rebels will host Oakleigh Chargers at Sebastopol on Saturday.

The game, which starts at 1pm, features a strong south-west contingent - Angus Bade (Warrnambool), Hamish Sinnott (Camperdown), Archie Stevens, Myles McCluggage and Marcus Herbert (South Warrnambool), Jamieson Ballantyne (Portland), Vincent Huf (Hamilton Kangaroos), Josh Rentsch (Penshurst), Ben Kellett (North Warrnambool Eagles) and Tom Baulch and Mac Petersen (Koroit).

Rebels coach David Loader said he was thrilled with the Rebels' progress.
