CBD can now be purchased over the counter in Australia

Then I have just the news you're looking for. Cannabidiol is now available over the counter in Australia.

Wow. This is a moment in history, my friend. Let's dim the lights, put on some Wiz Khalifa and pass the dutchie on the left hand side.

You know I'm talking about CBD, right?

Sweet, man. Whatever your flavour. I'm down.

As in the other cannabis compound. The one that doesn't get you high - unlike the psychoactive THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), from the same plant.

Oh. So my local chemist is not about to become my kushman?

There will be no weed paraphernalia among the Band-Aids, vitamins and sunscreen.

But you will be able to purchase low doses of CBD, now approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration for sale in Aussie pharmacies without a prescription.

And I should consider this purchase why?

CBD is already wildly popular around the world for its medicinal properties. It's extracted from the cannabis plant as oil, and studies have shown its anti-inflammatory effects can help various ailments, from depression and anxiety to chronic pain.

How do we partake? I'm sensing there's no rolling involved.

In the US it's available in all sorts of products, from bath salts to balms and drinks. But here, it'll be sold for oral consumption only, with a maximum daily dose of 150mg.
