SOUTH Warrnambool's Marcus Herbert will join the south-west's long list of players to play at VFL level when he makes his debut for Geelong on Thursday.

The 18-year-old will play his first game against the Northern Bullants at Marvel Stadium on Thursday night.
Herbert said he found out the news on Wednesday afternoon when coach Shane O'Bree texted him to say he was in.
"It's a reward for all the hard work i have been putting in so it's always good (to make your debut)," he said.
The Greater Western Victoria Rebels-listed player will played in a high forward and inside midfield role for the Cats on Thursday night.
Herbert will play alongside his older brother Liam, who made his debut last week.
"It will be good fun," Herbert said of debuting with his brother in the same team.

"We played junior footy together al our life so it doesn't really feel any different but it will be good debuting with him there."
Herbert said he had adjusted well to life in the VFL.
"It's pretty full on, the training is high intensity and all the boys and coaching staff are really welcoming and they now a lot about their stuff and I'm learning as much as I can," he said.
Last month Herbert played against the AFL Academy in an exhibition bout at GMHBA Stadium.
He played against South Warrnambool teammate Fraser Marris in the match.
Thursday's clash will be televised on Kayo with the first bounce at 7.10pm.
The Cats, who sit third on the ladder, are unbeaten from two games this season. They have also had one bye.
The Bullants are fresh of a strong showing against an in-form Footscray Bulldogs side.
