TWO Melbourne construction co-workers were intercepted about an hour apart early Saturday morning in Hamilton about three times the legal alcohol limit.

Both the men in their 40s were issued with an immediate loss of licence after recording alcohol readings of .131 and .157.
Hamilton police Sergeant Jim Beaumont said the men were known to each other and both were attempting to drive home.
The first man was intercepted in Hamilton's Thompson Street at 12.50am Saturday morning.
Witnesses notified police the second man was attempting to drive and he was also intercepted just before 2am, also in Thompson Street.
They will both be summoned to appear in the Hamilton Magistrates Court at a later date.
Sergeant Beaumont said it was believed the men had been consuming alcohol in the Hamilton central business district before driving.
"The first one we were just on the spot when we got a call and intercepted the driver," he said.
"The second man was intercepted also attempting to drive and a member of the public contacted police.
"That's the value of living in the country sometimes - an immediate police response - and we were able to intercept these men before they could be a danger to other road users.
"Their behaviour was highly irresponsible."
