A Melbourne resident with south-west connections and a former world champion took out the 39th Terang Fun Run as organisers commit to returning to the event's original date.

Jacob Bell took out the men's overall race win in 18 minutes and 21 seconds with Sam Edney (20:13) and Richard Wade (20:30) closely following him.

Anna Kasapis won the women's in 21 minutes and 58 seconds with Claudia Lee (26:32) in second.
Terang and District Lions Club member and event organiser Kerrin McKenzie said the pair put in strong runs to secure victory.
Melbourne-based Bell has a connection to the area in his grandmother Nora O'Keefe.

Kasapis also has a connection to region having grown up here and her father Ray Worland is part of the run's organising committee.
McKenzie said the 39th edition of the fun run attracted more than 300 runners despite running a month later than usual due to coronavirus restrictions.

He said the event would return to its end of February date for the 40th edition in 2022.
Max Ibic (under 15 boys - 22:03), Geordie Rollings-Wurak (under 13 boys - 22:40), Lee Haberfield (veteran 40-49 - 23:43) and Rob Ibic (veteran 50-plus - 22:43) also secured wins.
Dayna Haberfield (under 18 girls - 27:18), Taleah Murfett (under 15 girls - 26:24), Ava Conheady (under 13 girls - 31:27) and Claire Hill (veterans 40-49 - 26:06) were victorious in the women's categories.
