Bulls' captain Grant Place confirmed Tim Place was unavailable and would be replaced by Stephen Hill.
Tim, who was awarded player of the match for his performance in the SWC Fonterra Twenty20 Cup grand final against Mortlake in January, is best man at a friend's wedding this weekend.
Hill, who played division three this season as well as in the club's Twenty20 campaigns, brings a wealth of experience.
Grant explained Hill, who had a long break from cricket, originally returned to play division three with his brother-in-law.
He's ended up winning back-to-back cricketer of the year awards in division three. A highlight this season was his 137 not out.
The Bulls' skipper said Hill would likely replace Tim as a middle to low-order batsman.
Grant said he talked to his troops about staying sharp on Saturday night after the washout last Saturday.
They trained Tuesday and Thursday nights.
"Everyone is pretty clam and focused at the moment," Grant said.
The skipper feels if the Bulls can play somewhere near their best, it will be enough to get the win.
He said his troops would concentrate on executing their own skills and doing their bit for the team.
Meanwhile, Mortlake captain Todd Robertson said the Cats would go in unchanged from their semi-final success.
"Obviously, the boys are as keen as mustard to get stuck into it," he said.
He said the semi was the first time this season the division one side had its full list available.
Robertson explained the Cats had stuck together since last Saturday.
He said they watched their division two team play in its grand final on Sunday.
The skipper was grateful division two players showed up at training this week to help their division one side.
Mortlake trained Tuesday and Thursday nights and as usual made use of the town's impressive indoor cricket facilities.
"We had a good session in the stadium on Tuesday night," Robertson said.
"Thursday, we had match practice on the middle of the ground."
The Cats' leader knows a strong team effort will be crucial on Saturday.
"We need everybody to play their role," he said.
"We need to take early wickets and make sure we bat our overs out."
Mortlake is chasing its seventh premiership in 12 years while Pomborneit is aiming for a hat-trick of flags.
Pomborneit's 95 proved too strong for the Cats when they met in the Fonterra Twenty20 Cup grand final in January.
The Bulls also got the chocolates when they met in their most recent one-day grand final in the 2018/19 season.
Saturday's match starts at 11.30am.
