A 16-year-old Hamilton district teenager has been flown to a Melbourne hospital with serious head injuries after a P-plater rolled a ute overnight Saturday.

South-west police road safety adviser Acting Senior Sergeant Simon Bourke said the accident happened on Harmans Road near Byaduk early Sunday morning.
At 12.40am Sunday emergency services were alerted after a Holden Rodeo utility driven by an 18-year-old P-plater went off the road and rolled.

The 16-year-old passenger sustained serious head injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Hamilton Base Hospital, where he was assessed and treated, before being flown to The Alfred hospital in Melbourne.
It is understood the teenager remains in a stable condition.
The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Hamilton hospital where he was assessed and treated.
Acting Senior Sergeant Bourke said the cause of the accident was still being investigated but there were no other vehicles involved or any witnesses, other than the two teenagers.
