Final-round hurrah for junior cricketers
Warrnambool and District Cricket Association's under 15 boys competition will complete its final round on Friday night.

The matches, which start at 5.20pm, fall before the state government's five-day snap lockdown to combat a coronavirus cluster starts at 11.59pm.
But the under 15 boys' semi-finals, which were planned for Sunday, have been postponed as have all other WDCA fixtures.
The board hopes to have further announcements regarding a resumption on Wednesday.
Basketballers 'shattered'
Warrnambool Basketball's Mike McGorm says junior players will be "shattered" after the snap state government lockdown forced it to cancel this weekend's junior seaside tournament.
Teams from across Victoria had submitted teams for the under 12 and under 14 two-day competition
"I am as flat as a tack to be honest," he said.
"I am really disappointed. My (under 12 team) I train we've worked hard, outdoors we've put in the time and energy and those little buggers will be shattered.
"Our whole livelihoods have been put in jeopardy for a tennis tournament (Australian Open), it's beyond maddening."
McGorm said attention now turned to what to do next.
"We may re-schedule, I am not sure," he said.
"As a committee we'll sit down and discuss the pros and cons of moving it."
McGorm said the lockdown, which is in place until Wednesday at midnight, could impact more events if it went longer.
"It puts in jeopardy country champs, state selection," he said.
"We missed all these events last year."
Bowlers' round cancelled
Western District Bowls Division will cancel its Saturday and Tuesday pennant rounds.
Secretary Marian Treweek said it was the most logical option.
"The phone has been running hot," she said on Friday afternoon after Premier Dan Andrews' lockdown announcement.

"The complete round will be cancelled and we'll plod on from there.
"If we extended the season and pushed the round out, one - people get confused and two, it (a lockdown) could happen again."
Cricket treated as 'a wash out'
South West Cricket Association president Kym Mathew says he's waiting to hear from Cricket Victoria on what will happen to this weekend's round of matches.
It's round 16 of division one.
He said SWC would do what Cricket Victoria and DHHS recommended.
"I would imagine from the face value of it, I think the round would be a wash out," he said.
Each side gets three points each for a wash out.
He said he had already had enquiries from clubs asking him what would happen on Saturday.
Swim series' final leg could be rescheduled
Shipwreck Coast Swim Series committee member Martin O'Brien said the final leg of the event at Port Campbell might be rescheduled.
"At this stage we're proposing to run it next Saturday but just waiting for that to be confirmed," he said.
O'Brien said the group was waiting on host Port Campbell Surf Life Saving Club to give the green light on that idea.
The race was earmarked for Saturday, February 13. The first two legs were in Port Fairy and Warrnambool in January.
He said the committee would post on its Facebook page as soon as it had an update.
Golf club cancels premier event, courses closed
Warrnambool Golf Club has postponed its popular women's event as courses across the region close due to the state government's five-day lockdown.
Courses across the south-west will be closed from 11.59pm on Friday to 11.59pm on Wednesday as a result of the statewide lockdown announced in the in the wake of Melbourne's COVID-19 cluster.
WGC announced in an email to members its popular Marjorie Robinson Bowl, which was scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, had been postponed indefinitely.
"We are deeply disappointed that this lockdown impacts our ability to host the Marjorie Robinson Bowl," the club said in the email.
"We would like to thank all our members that had volunteered their time and/or provided use of their carts.
"Most importantly, I would like to acknowledge and thank the organising committee that have put an enormous amount of time into the planning of this event.
"We will work to re-schedule this event for a future date and appreciate your understanding during this challenging time."
