Dennis Hobbs, who most recently steered Horsham Saints to a reserves premiership, has taken on the club's top job.
Hobbs held his first pre-season session on Wednesday night and will study his playing list's strengths before imposing a game plan.
The 57-year-old will favour giving youth opportunities, a value understood to resound with the club's long-term goals.
"We did a lot of that at Horsham, that was one of the things I was suggesting before I took on the role," Hobbs said.
"I've raised that with (president) Brendan (Hickey). We're really keen to push them up.
"I was pretty happy to hear we have quite a few kids around. That's exciting. You've got to have that for success."
Hobbs, who relocated to Timboon in 2019 from the Wimmera, said he was relishing the chance to return to coaching.
"I'll be a little bit rusty but I'll have some help getting some training drills together and that," he said.
"I'll see how many talls we have and look at our make up before (putting in a game plan).
"We'll have to be adaptable. We just want to get a mindset of turning up and when we're on the track, we're on the track and it's serious. That'll be the first step."
