A 75-YEAR-OLD cricket competition is likely to make a call on its future at an association-wide meeting on Monday night.

The Grassmere Cricket Association, which in July revealed it was working to ensure its clubs could thrive long-term, will discuss its options at an executive and club forum.
President Rhys Dews said clubs had been proactive and forward-thinking as they looked ahead.
"The clubs are the most important ones. We've been working together over the past 12 months to make sure we're ready for what's next," he said.
"On Monday we'll have a really clear idea of where we're heading.

"We've been asking the clubs to look beyond this year and to look at their long-term future."
Dews said the association, one of three major leagues across the Warrnambool district, was optimistic its clubs could survive and thrive long-term.
It comes after Grassmere Cricket Association powerhouse Panmure in July voted to merge with Warrnambool and District Cricket Association outfit Allansford in July.

Another former GCA outfit, Purnim, rebranded itself as Northern Raiders and joined the WDCA in August.
The club is currently placed fourth in division two and fifth in division three and also boasts several junior teams.
Wangoom, Yambuk, Hawkesdale, Killarney, Grassmere and Woolsthorpe-Mailors Flat are the current GCA clubs fielding teams in division one.
