Warrnambool trainer Peter Chow understands how tough the sport of kings is after he watched his lightly-raced filly Paul's Regret finish an unlucky fourth in a $100,000 race at Caulfield on Saturday.
The stewards report from the meeting tells part of the story.
"Paul's Regret was slow to begin and rounding the home turn had to be eased when awkwardly placed on the heels of Tubby Two Tracks," it read.
"Stewards questioned apprentice jockey Michael Poy after his ride. Poy explained that from the wide barrier it had been his intention to settle back in the field."
Chow told The Standard punters should just forget Paul's Regret run in the 1200-metre race.
"She just had no luck in the run," the popular trainer said.
"I must admit it was hard to watch but that's racing. We'll have to go back to the drawing board and try and find another suitable race for her.

"Paul's Regret has had two runs in town in this campaign and with a bit of luck she may have won them both."
Paul's Regret has won one of her six starts.
Meanwhile, apprentice hoop Teo Nugent scored back-to-back metropolitan wins on Shot Of Irish at Caulfield on Saturday.
Nugent, a former student at Brauer College, rode Shot Of Irish to victory at Sandown last Saturday.
The lightly-raced five-year-old has won eight of his 22 starts. Saturday's win took Shot Of Irish's prizemoney to more then $225,000.
