On Wednesday the WDHA announced all hockey including games, training, academies and its upcoming pre-season sport psychology session with Jodie Flemming had been postponed until May 2.
President Sharyn Stevenson said in a statement that the decision, which is effective immediately, was not an easy one for the committee to make.
"We have taken on board all the information available via Hockey Victoria and have spoken at length to come to a decision that is best for the health and well-being of all," she said.
"It is better to be proactive rather than reactive to the current world crisis.

"We all need our health at the end of the day and if we can stay ahead of this crisis by sacrificing, what we hope to only be part of, our upcoming season we are willing to make that choice.
"The committee will continue to be in contact behind the scenes to remain up to date and keep you, our members informed of any updates if the situation changes prior to May 2nd.
"The (hockey field's) gate will remain open for anyone wanting a private hit, we do recommend our members self-isolate as much as possible though to aid in preventing the spread of COVID-19."
Due to the restrictions on indoor crowds now being set to 100 it meant the WDHA opted to take a cautious approach with its scheduled event with Flemming.
"Jodie's sport psychology session will be rescheduled for a later date due to the proximity of the individuals on the night and our commitment to keeping all our players, coaches, managers and wider community safe during these unprecedented times," Stevenson said.
