Warrnambool Tri Club president Ian Barnes is thrilled with the amount of interest in this Sunday's Foreshore Triathlon.

"We're looking at twice the amount of numbers for the main events compared to what we had last year," he said.
The open event, which returns to Warrnambool breakwater after a stint at Killarney last year, asks competitors to complete a a 500-metre swim, 20-kilometre bike ride and 5km run. It starts at 7.30am.
There's also a Come and Tri at 7.45am which challenges participants to a 250m swim, 5km ride and 1.6km run.
Barnes said about 70 people had already registered for those two races with more expected.
He added the club would have about 120 people involved with all-abilities and junior events also on Sunday's schedule.
The all-abilities event starts at 10am and juniors begins at 10.45am.

Barnes said Hamilton's Gabrielle Lanman and Naticia Varley were favourites for the women's open event.
He expects Jenny Dowie and Josephine McDowall to be hot on their heals.
Varley was the fastest female overall in the January's Hopkins Mini Tri Series.
Barnes named a number of contenders in the men's open race.
"In the men's, battle will be between Kobe Henderson and Ruben De Silva-Smith with the likes of Ben Tatti, Andy Ryan and Jason Morgan right on their tail," Barnes said.
De Silva-Smith took out men's category of the club's Killarney Triathlon in November.
