Woolsthorpe showjumper Jamie Kermond wins final Australian World Cup Jumping round

The Woolsthorpe showjumper combined with Yandoo Oaks Constellation to make it back-to-back round wins at the high-quality competition at Boneo on Sunday.

It was the final round of the 10-round series. The overall Australian winner booked a ticket to Las Vegas for the decider which includes the top-placed rider from 13 different series across the globe.

Proud stepdad Shayne Fisher said it was a great result for Kermond, who last week earned his MER (minimum entry requirement) which qualified him for Australian team selection for the upcoming Tokyo games.

"He jumped double clear again - he might have been the only one to jump double clear," Fisher said.

"Chris Chugg got third and for him (Kermond) to win the (Australian) world cup series he had to win and Chugg had to finish worse than fifth.

"Chugg held on and won."

Fisher though said it was a promising result for Kermond who wants to compete for Australia at the Olympics in July and August.

"It sets him up because it's what you need, to be up there and going well to be any chance of being selected," he said.
