A talent-laden list - which features first-timers Ross Levett and Xavier Beks - has been named to tackle Colac in Warrnambool's final practice hit-out on Sunday.
Levett, a multiple premiership player with Woodford, is set to take wicketkeeping duties while Beks, a pace bowler, could take the new ball.
Superstar all-rounders Mark Murphy and Jimmy Elford, who both missed Warrnambool's relegation to division two in 2019, are back in the mix after a one-year hiatus.
The final squad will be announced on Monday night.
Coach Ray Drew said the squad was well-equipped to fire Warrnambool back to the Provincial grade.
"We have three of the best cricketers in the region unavailable - Cam Williams, Ben Boyd and Matt Love - but we'll pick the best squad available," he said.

"We really believe we can go a long way this year. We were disappointed with the relegation and the boys are really keen to get back into the top grade.
"There's a lot of pride in the squad and the boys want to do well for their association." Drew said Sunday's practice match was vital to build momentum leading into the February tournament.
"We'll look to gel and it'll give some of the boys who haven't played representative cricket a taste of it," he said. The practice match at Merrivale oval will begin at 10am.
