WEST Warrnambool is resisting the temptation to compare itself to rivals despite an eye-catching triumph over two-time reigning premier Russells Creek.

Panthers skipper Alastair Templeton, who has West on course for a Warrnambool and District Cricket Association finals berth, said his club was keeping focus.
Templeton's men posted 177 last week and restricted Creek to just 118 on Saturday to notch their seventh win of the campaign.
"We're really trying not to compare ourselves to other teams," he said.

"Things change week-to-week and you can be too harsh on yourself if you compare or think you're better than you actually are.
"It was a confidence-boosting win but we definitely don't think we're any better than we were before we'd won at 1pm."
Templeton told The Standard the fixture was a game of fine margins. "It was only a partnership away from being close," he said.
