Terang's Sophie Kidd, 18, was thrilled with how she performed on Saturday in the ladies' class on her RM125cc.
"I blew myself away with how I went," she said. "First race, I was second into the corner following Dani Foot, she's a really good rider.

Kidd, who ended up finishing sixth in her class, lives on a dairy farm and works in the agricultural industry. Purnim's Paddy Lewis, 10, had great day out on Saturday.
"I nearly flipped it at the start, ended up getting the whole shot and came second," the SCMC member said.
He was second-overall for the 85cc small wheel C grade and was equal first for 65cc C grade after Saturday's racing.
Paddy has pretty much been racing motorbikes since he was born.
"I came out here one day (Lake Gillear) and really enjoyed racing so I just kept going with my career and I got the whole family into racing," he said.
Paddy has found the motocross community welcoming.
"Everyone is just so friendly and I enjoy riding motorbikes, the track is probably one of the best tracks I've ever ridden on," he said.
Seb Bartlett, 11, and his older brother Cody, 13, also hit the track. Seb took on the 85cc small wheel A grade while Cody the 85cc big wheel B grade and 125cc B grade.
Seb, who rides every weekend, finished fourth in both his races and ended the weekend in fourth place on the standings with clubmate Zak Sanderson in fifth.
He started riding when he was four and has been racing since he was six years old.
The brothers from Bushfield are looking forward to the Western Region Series which starts in March.
They also compete in the Victorian titles and may take on the Australian titles.
