Timboon Bowling Club's Fiona Newey and Gary Duro won their first Western District Bowls Division mixed pairs title on Sunday.
The pair claimed a 21-14 shot victory against City Memorial's Brent O'Rourke and Julie Dosser at Dennington Bowls Club.
"We're pretty proud of ourselves because we only entered it because it was played at Timboon (the first two days)," Newey said.
"It was an opportunity to have a go at it.
"We wouldn't have thought we would be in the mix."

Newey said it was a great team effort and they put in a consistent performance.
She added the final was played in good spirit.
Newey returned to bowls last year after having a 10-year break.
Koroit's Wayne Cooper and Les Johnson took out the men's pairs with a 20-16 shot win against City Memorial's Tom Pemberton and Neil Crisp.
The Koroit pair turned-the-tables after Pemberton and Crisp got them in a thrilling 2018 final.
Johnson said it was a great day for the pair who had been playing together for the past six years.
"Absolutely, they're very hard events to win," he said.
"We were actually beaten by them in the final the year before so to get a win on Sunday was satisfying given we learnt from the experiences we had the year before."
There was only one shot separating the teams going into the last end.
City Memorial's Dosser and Moira Cooknell took out the women's pairs title in December.
The pairs winners look forward to the regional championships coming up in Camperdown in early February.
