Albury's Grant Anderson added another top-five finish to his strong run of form on Wednesday night, placing second behind Speedweek champion James McFadden.
Anderson's form - he has this season posted a fifth, fourth, second and first at Premier Speedway - has the 39-year-old hopeful of ruffling feathers come late January.
"It's the biggest race in the country," he told The Standard.

"We were fortunate to pick up a preliminary night win here a couple of years ago and we'll be trying to get on that top step again.
"That's absolutely the dream."
Anderson, who finished third in the 2015 classic, said he relished racing at the Allansford track.
"I think most people enjoy coming here, that's for sure," he said.
"The car count is always so big and any feature here is difficult to win, let alone a World Series Sprintcars or classic.
"Most people love it. We've had success here in the past and it's really good when the surface is nice and 'racey'."
Despite racing just three meetings, Anderson was satisfied with his Speedweek output.
"We didn't do the first two meetings at Murray Bridge," he said.
"To get three top 10 finishes for our Speedweek is a good result and one we're happy with."
