Begood Toya Mother, who won the group one Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield in September, was to have had a track gallop between races at the Woodford race meeting on Tuesday but those plans have changed.
Warrnambool trainer Daniel Bowman told The Standard Begood Toya Mother had come back into work a lot stronger after a 14-week break from racing.
"I couldn't fault his condition. He'll have a gallop over 800 metres on Monday morning," he said.
"We aim to start his campaign in the Australian Stakes with his main goals in this campaign the two group one races, namely the Orr Stakes and the Futurity Stakes.
"Both races are run at Caulfield and he has a good record at that track."
Bowman confirmed four-time-group-one winning jockey Winks has been offered the ride on Begood Toya Mother in the Australian Stakes as regular jockey Declan Bates recovered from an injured left knee-cap which happened in early November.
"Declan has an appointment with his specialist on January 8," Bowman said.
"He's making a good recovery but it'll take him three to four weeks to get race fit and we had to have a replacement rider for the Australian Stakes so we offered the ride to James."
Bowman purchased Begood Toya Mother for $28,000 at the 2016 Adelaide Yearling Sales.
The son of Myboycharlie has won more then $599,000 in stake-money for his owners which include many from Warrnambool.
