The Melbourne-based team are back in the south-west for another crack at the Warrnambool grasscourt tournament.
Starling said there were numerous reasons his group had returned for a second year.
"Good weather, good atmosphere, we've got a good group of people and we love the grasscourts down here," he said.
"It's always a good fun event.
"We don't see many grasscourts in Melbourne so generally you have to travel a couple of hours out of Melbourne."
Starling won his first open singles match on Friday.
The 25-year-old is also playing mixed doubles with his older sister Brooke and doubles with friend Gerard Di Paolo.
"Probably the two doubles events would be my best chance, I'm not fit enough anymore for the singles," he said with a laugh.
Warrnambool Lawn Tennis Club put up some new shelters for players and fans just in time for the tournament.
Starling said they were a welcome addition.
"Shade is always good, it's rare to find, especially during the day because there's so many courts," he said.
"Anywhere you can find a nice shady spot is always good."

The 10-strong Notting-Hill Pinewood crew arrived in Warrnambool on Boxing Day and will stay until New Year's Day.
Starling said they would spend most of their time at the Pertobe Road courts.
"Because there are so many of us playing, we're generally here all day every day," he said.
The group supports each of its players.
"We're always here getting rowdy and throwing our support behind everyone," Starling said.
About 300 players are taking part in the tournament which wraps up on December 31.
