WARRNAMBOOL Gold skip Graeme Sharp credited new faces in the side as a factor in the side's unbeaten start to Western District Bowls Division top grade midweek pennant season.

Gold jumped ahead at the top of the ladder after extending its winning streak to five against Terang Gold in a 71-67 away victory on Tuesday.
Sharp, who is one of five new faces in the top grade side along with Bill Hunting, Roger Hill, Jeff Rundell and Langhi Johnston, said the side felt boosted by its good form.

The long-serving Warrnambool bowler, who shifted from Camperdown in 2007, said the pieces were beginning to fall in place for Gold as it chases redemption for its runners-up finish in last season's decider.
"We are starting to swap the teams around and getting them together to get a better understanding of the way they bowl, which is helping us gel as a team," the 2018-19 division two pennant winner said.
Gold returns next Tuesday to face Dennington Dolphins, who are coming off a win over reigning premiers City Gold.
