President Jeremy Dixon said the club would have half a dozen athletes compete at the November 30 event at Friendlies Societies' Park.
Dixon said the south-west's newest athletics club already had 21 athletes with members hailing from Warrnambool, Terang, Timboon and Camperdown.
"It shows that we need a club and that there's great support for a club," he said.
Dixon, a former New Zealand sprinter, decided to start the group after he noticed a demand for a senior track and field club in the south-west.
The team is buzzing after a successful weekend at an Athletics Victoria Shield League (AVSL) meet in Ballarat - the first time the club travelled to an event as a group.

The 4x100 metre women's team took first in a time of 54.89 seconds and the 8x100m mixed team also crossed first in a time of 1:45.81 minutes.
The club claimed second overall in the men's 2x800m and third overall in the men's 4x100m.
Dixon was thrilled with how the club performed at that meet.
"Absolutely, I'm really excited about what has started and I'm really pleased with the (club member's) feedback from the day," he said.
He added it was great for the club to open with a relay day which meant older and younger athletes could work together and build camaraderie.
Dixon said everyone chipped in to ensure the team could enter as many events as possible.
"Because we have a small club, we had a lot of athletes do three or four relays," he said.
"It was incredible to get those results."
The president said the Turbines would now target about half a dozen AVSL meets for the rest of the season.
"We don't have a competition down here (Warrnambool) and we can't make every shield competition in Ballarat or Geelong (as a club)," he said.
Individual athletes from the club can attend any AVSL events they wish.
Dixon said it was important for a big contingent of the club to get to meets where possible.
"It's trying to ensure that we provide that club experience," he said.
The president said he was hoping to attract more sponsors to help the club with logistics, travel and equipment.
The Terang Gift on Sunday December 1 is another meet on the club's calendar.
