Allan Miller backs East Warrnambool committee to help it through two-year recess

Past players and supporters converged at the Bombers' Reid Oval clubrooms on Monday as the club voted to enter a two-year hiatus.

Miller said support was strong and the next action was to action its plans.

"We had a lot of members there. Members, past players, discussing how they feel about things and how they can help moving forward," he said.

"We've retained a lot of the previous executive and have a few more.

"Next we need to roll up our sleeves and get some sub committees in place to ensure we make the most of our two-year recess period."

Miller said East Warrnambool would function as a "social club" to keep a revenue stream open.

"We're financially in a good position and we need to remain financially stable," he said.

"We want to be a viable and attractive prospect for players and juniors and hopefully by the time we come out of our recess, the uncertainty around the Reid Oval redevelopment will be over and we'll have Warrnambool's premier oval to sell to recruits and the city."

Miller pointed to reigning Mininera league premier Great Western as a case study in returning from recess.

He said AFL Western District was assisting with its formal notice of entering a recess.
