Higgins, one of just two female players in the 72-hole tournament, will compete against south-west golfer Diana Robinson.
The remedial masseuse said a country week tilt with the Western District region meant she felt prepared for the three-day tournament.
The tournament begins at Port Fairy on Friday, travelling to Warrnambool on Saturday before wrapping up at Port Fairy on Sunday.
"We had a 36-hole day at country week, so that was good practice," Higgins said.
"Coming into it, I feel like I've played a fair bit of golf and I certainly feel better having played that 36.
"This is always more of a test though and I think it'll be a little bit colder."
Higgins and Robinson are two of 36 golfers set to battle rainy forecasts across the weekend.
With this in mind, straight driving is high on Higgins' agenda.
"I want it as straight as I can, but also I want it up as close to the pin as possible," she said.
"You don't want to be too far away. You just want to be consistent and to try to avoid disasters."
Higgins urged more female players to enter the tournament in the future.
"It's a bit of a shame (there wasn't more entrants)," she said.
"We get events like this in our backyard and need to do what we can to keep them here or risk losing them.
"They were still prepared to run it with two players and we're happy to go out and play and see how it goes."
Robinson, who plays off a handicap of 8.2, said she was excited to play both courses in quick succession.
The duo tees off at 12.30pm.
