Warrnambool Volleyball Association member Emma Hannagan secured a bronze medal in her first national outing for Victoria at the recent Australian Junior Volleyball Championships.

Hannagan, 13, secured the medal after a tense third-place playoff against Western Australia at the championships, which ran from September 29 to October 5.
After trailing 7-14 in the fifth and deciding set the Victorian White under 14s team regained the serve and never faulted, storming to 18-16 to steal bronze.

The Emmanuel College student, who only picked up volleyball outside of school after winning a state title with Our Lady Help of Christians in 2018, said the experience would hold her in good stead.
"It definitely boosts you that you know you can do well and get results," the middle blocker said.
"I will definitely go back next year as it was a really great experience.
"The training and all been we had been through (in the tournament) has helped me learn a lot more about the game and how to play it and do things on the court in different ways."
Hannagan said her goal now was to try and keep expanding her knowledge by playing more volleyball.
