The festival, which was previously known as the Koroit to Warrnambool Half Marathon, will now have a six-kilometre walk added to the event's options.
In the first edition of the festival, which starts and finishes at Flagstaff Hill, included a 21km, 12km and six-kilometre run options.
The new six-kilometre walk, which has been cut in half from the last year's distance, will also support the Find Your Voice - All Abilities Choir with all profits going to the community group.
Warrnambool Athletics Club President Ashley Ansell said the the decision was based on extending the fundraising work the WAC already does.
"We just felt like we already do a lot of support for the community and we thought we would take that and introduce it into our running festival," he said.
"We want to be a community-minded event and give back to and show our support for different groups in it."

Ansell anticipates the event will once again be well attended and supported.
"We are hoping numbers increase on last year but obviously events like this take some time to build," he said.
"With the feedback we had (last year) it was positive although I don't expect to have a huge crowd but we expect a larger participant base than last year.
"We are hoping we can continue to build the event for future years."
Warrnambool City Council events and promotions coordinator Stephanie Hargreaves said she supported the return of the event.
"Warrnambool Running Festival is a great way to show off all that Warrnambool has to offer and we are really happy to be supporting this great event," she said.
