The 50-35 victory gave the sixth-placed Roosters' finals hopes a big boost ahead of a clash against Camperdown - the side which sits just two points above them on the ladder - next weekend.
Van Rooy said the win boosted her side's confidence but she knows there is still work to be done if it is to secure the final spot in the finals with the Bloods and Magpies still in the hunt.
"(Our improvement lies with us) playing the full 60 minutes because against top sides you can't have the lapses that we have been having," she said.
"The quality of our play hasn't always been up to the standard we want it and we have been working hard at being more consistent."

The third-year mentor said splitting the open and division one training into two separate groups had revitalised her side's form, netting it two wins and a draw last week against ladder-leaders Cobden.
"We've been focusing on ourselves a bit more later in the season," she said.
"We weren't working with the senior side but the whole squad (of open and division one) and we needed to be focusing on ourselves and I feel it's paying off.
"It means that we focus on exactly what we need to work on and not have to worry about a big group. We can have a bit more attention to detail with a smaller group."
Camperdown's 64-35 victory over Hamilton Kangaroos ensured it stayed just ahead of the Roosters in the race for fifth.
