The 20-year-old Port Campbell-based farmer will return to the WDCA after four seasons with the Rebels in the South West Cricket Association.
Huffadine said he and Boyd, the Gators' former top-grade coach, had known each other for eight years after meeting him through his father's farm.

The right-handed batsman, who played in Nirranda's division one side before switching to Heytesbury, will meet his new teammates at the side's first training session this weekend.
Huffadine's focus this season is on making an impact in his return to the WDCA.
"I want to make more runs and I would love to see Allansford do well in all three formats and if I can help, that's a bonus," he said.
Huffadine is one of two new faces at Uebergang Oval with coach Jacob Bloom joining in the off-season.
He scored 1086 runs from 56 games with Heytesbury and also represented the SWC at Melbourne Country Week in two consecutive seasons (2016-17, '17-18).
