Labor national secretary Noah Carroll will bring forward his resignation to July 26, as the party examines what went wrong in the federal election campaign.

Mr Carroll was expected to take some personal leave before confirming a resignation date later in the year.
But AAP understands the resignation will take effect next Friday.
Mr Carroll has been the party's national secretary and key campaign strategist since September 2016, having been central to Labor's successful 2014 state election campaign in Victoria.
Assistant secretary Paul Erickson has temporarily taken on the role, and is considered a potential successor.
A review of the election campaign is under way headed headed by former South Australian premier Jay Weatherill and former federal minister Craig Emerson.
The executive will receive the report in October.
