Old Collegians stars handed suspensions at independent tribunal

Ben Turner-Dwyer, who pleaded guilty and initially accepted a two-week suspension before Kolora-Noorat challenged it, copped a four-week ban for striking Power's Ben Fraser in the fourth quarter of the round 12 match.

The strike left the Power forward concussed and he failed to return to the field. Fraser said he was still suffering symptoms and would not line up in this weekend's match.

Turner-Dwyer, who hit Fraser with a right-handed punch to his left jaw and rated his hit a five out of 10, argued it was a quick reaction to the key forward retaliating to the Warrior's late bump on Henry Kenna.

Fellow Warrior Bodie Hibberson, who pleaded not guilty to his charge, was handed a two-match suspension for striking Power half-forward Ben Reid

Reid rated the strike's force a six out of 10, while witness and teammate Luke Tebble rated it a seven. Hibberson argued he pushed Reid.

Reporting umpire Nathan Hoy, who was 15 metres away but had clear view of the incident, confirmed he saw the third-year Warrior strike Reid.

Turner-Dwyer will miss games against Nirranda, Timboon Demons, East Warrnambool and Allansford while Hibberson will miss the Blues and Demons matches.

The independent tribunal consisted of chairman David Gladman, Paul Jones and Robert Wade.
