The Roosters took a 3.9 (27) to 2.2 (14) victory over Portland Tigers at Friendly Societies Park.
"It went really well, it was great game of footy, very competitive," he said.

O'Rourke said the players' family members traveled from as far as Melbourne for the big occasion.
The Roosters mentor said some players missed out because his team has too many players.
But he said everyone showed up to the support the team the junior team stuck around as well.
He said everyone contributed to the win and co-captain Laini Johnson was the Roosters' best.
"She was absolutely a stand out on the ground today," he said.
The teenager played through the midfield and went forward late.
O'Rourke said Jane Mcmeel showed good attributes while Jess Quinlivan was strong in defence.
The tackling award went to Zuraiyer Rantall and the shepherding award to Claudia Owen.
Hamilton Kangaroos got its season off to the perfect start with a 7.7 (49) to 4.5 (29) win over Horsham Demons.
Emily Hausler was the Kangaroos' best player and slotted a goal.
Leah Drendel was also among the best with three majors.
Meaghan Pohlner was the Demons' best player at Hamilton's Melville Oval on Sunday.
