Greens candidate Zephlyn Taylor number one on Wannon federal election ballot and Liberal MP Dan Tehan last

The ballot was drawn at the Warrnambool election office on Wednesday, with five candidates in the running.

A surprise inclusion was ex-Warrnambool former radio host Alex Dyson, a much-loved presenter on ABC's youth radio station triple j.

The draw is:

Mr Dyson is known to his fans as 'Ratdog' and said he wanted to give people an alternative candidate to vote for.

"I think people are a bit disillusioned," he said.

"It's good to be a voice for all people."

Mr Dyson grew up in Warrnambool and started his radio career with fellow city ex-pat and comedian Tom Ballard.

The duo hosted a show on community radio station 3WAY FM before moving to the national broadcaster.

Standing Wannon MP Mr Tehan said he wasn't overly disappointed by placing last in the draw.

"It is what it is," he said.

"The Australian Electoral Commission is the independent umpire. It is a very important process and it is done very fairly. The numbers are the numbers."

Mr Tehan has been busy around the electorate on Wednesday announcing volunteer grants.
