Operation Nexus underway as police nab four impaired drivers

Warrnambool police Senior Sergeant Brett Jackson said there has been a "massive influx of traffic".

"The message is simple," Senior Sergeant Jackson said.

"Slow down, take care, remain calm and drive to the conditions. There are a lot of blind corners on the Great Ocean Road.

"Just because it's 100km/h that doesn't mean you don't have to travel that fast. Patience is number one."

Around the region police caught four people under the influence of drugs or alcohol across the Easter long weekend.

Senior Sergeant Jackson said more than 1000 breath tests were conducted as part of Operation Nexus.

"We have detected four alcohol or drug impaired drivers which is disappointing but overall the high majority of people are heeding the message," he said.

Senior Sergeant Jackson said there had been four injury collisions since Thursday, but none were serious.

"We had one at Berrybank, one at Glen Isla, one in Warrnambool and at Port Campbell," he said.

Operation Nexus finishes at midnight on Monday.
