THE Warrnambool Rangers will not field a women's side in the 2019 Ballarat and District Soccer Association season after shortage of numbers forced the club to pull the team.

President Cameron Pyke confirmed on Thursday the club had to make the tough decision to pull out of the league indefinitely.
The women's side struggled for numbers during its run to the grand final in 2018, where it was defeated 3-1 by Ballarat Soccer Club in the decider.
Pyke said the side had lost more players to other commitments this season and said it did not have the depth to cover the places left by the departing players.
But he did not rule out the club having a future women's side with more females who are starting to become interested in playing rising within their junior ranks.
The Jones Oval-based club has had a successful past four years in the Ballarat and District Soccer Association's top women's division.
Since 2015 the women's side had featured in every grand final, winning one title in 2016 when they defeated Ballarat North United Soccer Club 2-1.
