Warrnambool Seahawks import Aaron Harrison eager for 2019 Big V season

The American import has played basketball in his home country, graduating from Florida-based school Lynn University in 2015, before stints in Luxembourg, Argentina and Germany.

Harrison, who spent the past year living in London, said Australia was the ideal destination for his next adventure.

"I am just looking to have a good time. Honestly, travelling the world is probably the best part about playing basketball professionally," he said from Seahawks' training on Thursday night.

"I want to see some of the sights - I want to go to Sydney, see Melbourne and I want to watch a few of the NBL games.

"I have a couple of friends who already live here so I want to see them too."

Harrison, 25, will play as a shooting guard-small forward for the Tim Gainey-coached Seahawks.

He has heard about the Big V and is excited to play his part, starting in round one on March 16.

"I've been around the world a little bit but it's my first time in Australia," he said.

"I have a friend who played at Western Port and he told me how much he loved Australia.

"He said the people are nice, the basketball is good and it's always a good opportunity to further your career.

"I looked this team up and I thought 'these guys are pretty serious about their basketball' and the community looks like my type of community'.

"It's small and there's a lot of support and that's a thing I look for."

Harrison, who grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, before spending seven years in Florida, arrives in Warrnambool with a team-first mindset.

"I will do whatever they need me to do. I am not big on trying to be the superstar, that's not really my thing," he said.

"To be honest, I don't really have expectations. I can't say we're going to win a championship or win a final or anything like that but I can say we're going to be a tough outfit because we're going to play harder than anybody.

"We have big wings. It looks like we have guys who have been in the weight room a little bit."
